How do I change the stream speed of XM?

- This article Applies to the Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch only -

You may want to alter the speed of the XM stream depending on what your data connection is.

If you are using 3G or WiFi then you can use the high speed setting. If you are using Edge then you should use the lower speed.

NOTE: XM has three types of accounts, Premium, "Free" and the trial. Both the Premium and Trial accounts will stream up to 128K. The "Free" account as XM refers to it, only streams up to a maximum of 32K. To get the highest (and best quality) stream for your type of account, follow the steps below to set XM to "64 Kbps".

Here is how to set it

  1. Go to http://mobile.musicdock.com/mobile and log in
  2. Once you log in, you are taken to the main page. You are going to click on the  icon to the left of the stream speed in the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. Now you are on the settings page.

    - ** Make sure you put your password in or your settings will not be saved
    - Now tap the setting you want for your stream speed.
      Use 32Kbps for Edge
      Use 64Kbps for 3g & Edge
  4. Once you have set the stream you want, tap "Save my login on this device"
  5. Now tap submit.
  6. Now when you load a station it will play at 32Kbps if you selected "32Kbps" for your setting. If you selected "64Kbps" the stream will actually stream at 128Kbps.
