Does Pocket Tunes Radio have a 'Sleep Mode'?

- This article Applies to the Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch only -

Important: When OS3 was released there was a bug in it that broke Pocket Tunes ability to sleep when the timer went off. We are looking for an alternate way to enable this. If the bug is fixed in the OS then Pocket Tunes will be able to sleep when the timer goes off but for now you can do the following.

This will only work for stations that are in MP3 or AAC format that can be played in the background. You must update to the latest version of Pocket Tunes Radio to do this.

Pocket Tunes does not have a built in sleep mode, however there is a very easy way to use the built in Sleep iPod command with Pocket Tunes.

  1. Go to the "Clock" application that comes with your iPhone or touch
  2. Tap on the "Timer" tab
  3. Set the time to however long you want to play Pocket Tunes before it is stopped
  4. Tap on "When Timer Ends"
  5. Set it to "Sleep iPod", the top most option in the list
  6. Press "start"

Now simply go to Pocket Tunes and start up the stream you want to listen to. Tap "Play station in Background" to have Pocket Tunes load the station into Quicktime (for more on background play see this Knowledge Base article)  and let the station play.

When the timer gets to the time you set for it to stop, it will put the device into sleep mode which will stop playing a stream and effectively shut it down. When you next turn the screen on, you can return to Pocket Tunes and play the station or choose another one..
