I received an error message, "Unknown MTP Error (0x8004C02A)", what do I do?

This error message means that the store license file has become corrupted.

To fix it, on your device you need to delete any files you have transferred from online stores or libraries.

  1. Open Pocket Tunes
  2. Open the menu
  3. Go to the Tools menu
  4. Select, "Clear licenses"
  5. You will see a pop up that asks if you are sure. Click "Yes"
  6. There will be a message that confirms your licenses have been deleted, press "ok" to dismiss that message.

Now try a transfer.
You should no longer receive that error message and your files should transfer.

If you have a LifeDrive or the issue still occurs after clearing the licenses, you may have to clear them manually.

Manual Steps:

***NOTE: Though in most cases this will work fine, there can be instances where you will lose the license to download the song from the online store. In most instances the track can be re-licensed with no ill effect. In some cases you could permanently lose the ability to transfer that song to a portable device though this is very rare.

If you have a T5 or LifeDrive:

  • Using your File Transfer/LifeDrive Manager program on the desktop you can go into the Internal Flash/Drive and find the folder Palm/programs/Pocket Tunes and delete the file in there that starts with 'store.hds'. Do the same for the SD card if you have one.

For all Other Devices:

  • Using a program like FileZ (available for free from www.nosleep.net) go to the SD card and find the folder Palm/programs/Pocket Tunes and delete the file in there that starts with 'store.hds'.

Now re-transfer your songs, you should now be able to play them again.
