Windows Media Player says "You've encountered error message 8004200F..." what do I do?

This error message occurs when the SD card is locked or not accessible by the Palm device and therefore Windows Media Player is unable to transfer files to the card.

  1. Check to make sure the locking slider on the side of the device has not been set to the 'Lock' position. If it has, slide it back to the 'unlocked' position.

  1. The other possibility is that the card has become corrupted or damaged.
    • Insert the SD card into your device
    • Open CardInfo
    • Ensure that CardInfo is able to read the card, if it is showing information about the card then the device is able to read the card
  2. If CardInfo was able to read the card then the card may be corrupted. In that case, backup any important information and then use the 'Format' in CardInfo's menu to format the card.
