Transfer songs from Windows Media Player 10 to your Windows Mobile device.

- This article applies Windows Mobile devices only -

It is recommended that you connect via the USB cable when you aer transferring audio files to your device. Especially if some are copy protected files like those from an on-line store or library.

Step 1 - Connect your device

Connect your device as you would for any ActiveSync session

Now open Windows Media Player if not already open.

The first time you open Windows Media Player it may ask you to give your device a name, the default name is fine or you can change it, that's up to you. It does not impact the operation of Windows Media Player or the device.

Now click on the "Sync" tab.

On the right hand side you should see your device in the drop down. It should say something like "Storage Card" or, if you named your SD card, the name of the Card. If it says the name of your device instead (eg. HTC-Touch) then it is set to the internal memory of your device. you can transfer there as well but we recommend using an external card to save space on your device.

Step 3 - Select items to transfer

Click on the Library tab.

Right click on the item(s) you want to transfer. Select "Add to", then "Sync list".

Step 4 - transfer to the device

Once you have chosen all the items you want to transfer to the device, press the "Start Sync" button in the bottom right hand corner of Windows Media Player.

Step 5 - Playing the tracks

Once all the files have been transferred, disconnect your device.

Open Pocket Tunes and go to Choose Songs (Open the menu, select "Choose Songs" or press the letter "O" if you have a keyboard). You should see the following screen.

If you do not see this screen, press the left five way button until you do.

Windows Media Player 10 does not support transfer of the actual playlist so only the tracks are transferred not the list (Windows Media Player 11 does support transfer of playlists).

You can select "All Content" which gives you a list of all available tracks in alphabetical order. The others are pretty straightforward, Artist shows tracks in artist order, Album is in Album name order and Genre is sorted by Genre.

Once you have selected what you want, select "Play Slec." to play your selections.

Enjoy your Tunes!
