Transfer songs from Windows Media Player 11 to your Windows Mobile device.

- This article applies Windows Mobile devices only -

It is recommended that you connect via the USB cable when you aer transferring audio files to your device. Especially if some are copy protected files like those from an on-line store or library.

Step 1 - Create a playlist

The easiest way to transfer the tracks is to create playlists of the tracks you want to transfer. Though you can also drag and drop your audio files directly to the device as well, Pocket Tunes reads Windows Media Player playlists so it is a great way to access your songs on your Windows Mobile device.

  1. Click on the Library tab
  2. Click "Create Playlist"
  3. Give your playlist any name you'd like
  4. Now select some songs. You can right click and select "Add to..." and then select the playlist you want to add the track to, or drag and drop the song(s) to the Playlist you created. Either is fine

Step 2 - Connect your device

Connect your device as you would for any ActiveSync session

Now open Windows Media Player if not already open.

The first time you open Windows Media Player it may ask you to give your device a name, the default name is fine or you can change it, that's up to you. It does not impact the operation of Windows Media Player or the device.

Step 3 - Select items to transfer

On the right hand side of Windows Media Player you should see your device. If you do not, click on the sync tab.

You should then see your device displayed and if you have an SD card inserted in the device then we recommend transferring tracks to the card. If you prefer to transfer the files to internal memory, press "Next Device" and that should take you to the internal memory of the device.

Now drag and drop whatever Playlist(s) and/or track(s) you wish to transfer to the window on the right hand side below the device.

Step 4 - transfer to the device

Once you have chosen all the items you want to transfer to the device, press the "Start Sync" button in the bottom right hand corner of Windows Media Player.

Step 5 - Playing the tracks

Once all the files have been transferred, disconnect your device.

Open Pocket Tunes and go to Choose Songs (Open the menu, select "Choose Songs" or press the letter "O" if you have a keyboard). You should see the following screen.

If you do not see this screen, press the left five way button until you do.

You can now access your transferred files any way you would like. If you transferred a playlist, select the "Playlist" folder and you will see the playlist(s) you transferred. Or you can select "All Content" which gives you a list of all available tracks in alphabetical order. The others are pretty straightforward, Artist shows tracks in artist order, Album is in Album name order and Genre is sorted by Genre.

Once you have selected what you want, select "Play Slec." to play your selections.

Enjoy your Tunes!
