- This article applies to the Palm OS Only -

There are some cases where Windows sets a flag in the registry incorrectly. This flag needs to be removed to allow Windows to install the correct driver for Pocket Tunes.

NOTE: Only proceed if you are comfortable editing the registry. If you are not comfortable doing that, please contact support.

Here are the steps to edit the registry.

1) Go to the Start menu and select "Run"
2) In the box, enter "regedit" (without the quotes)
3) Then locate the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, press the '+' sign beside it to expand it
4) Within that folder locate the folder SYSTEM and expand it
5) Within that folder locate the folder CurrentControlSet and expand it
6) Within that folder locate the folder Control
7) Within that folder locate the folder
UsbFlags
8) Within that folder locate 170300020000, BUT this time RIGHT click on the folder and select "Delete"
9) Confirm that you want to delete the folder and exit the regedit window (if it asks you if you want to save change, say 'Yes')

Now, make sure that Pocket Tunes is in MTP mode. Open the Pocket Tunes menu, go to 'Preferences' and choose 'Copy from PC preferences', confirm that it says MTP in the drop down menu. If it says anything else, select the drop down and change it to MTP, then close Pocket Tunes. Connect to the USB and reopen Pocket Tunes. There should then be a New Hardware message in the lower right corner and the driver should install and you should then be able to connect.

If this fails, send us the 'setupapi.log' found in the 'c:\windows' directory (if you have extensions hidden this may look like "C:\windows\setupapi" in a folder display). Send the file to
support@normsoft.com .
