Will Pocket Tunes run on my Sony Clie?

** Due to Sony's decision over three years ago to discontinue its Clie line of PDAs, NormSoft has frozen its support for Clie models at the following levels:

Clie models UX40, UX50, TJ35, TJ37, TH55: Pocket Tunes 3.0.9 is the last supported version of Pocket Tunes for these devices. Customers are strongly advised not to install a later version of Pocket Tunes on these devices, and any customers requesting support for such installations will be directed to revert to Pocket Tunes 3.0.9.

All other Clie models: There is no supported version of Pocket Tunes for these devices. Users are strongly advised not to install Pocket Tunes on these devices. If a you do install Pocket Tunes on an unsupported device and subsequently purchase a Pocket Tunes registration code, there will be no refund available for such a purchase if the user later becomes dissatisfied with Pocket Tunes operation or performance. Also please note that NormSoft support is not able to provide answers to questions concerning unsupported devices.

If you are using an earlier version of Pocket Tunes (3.0.9 or older) Pocket Tunes currently does not natively run on most Sony PalmOS 5 handhelds because Sony has not made their audio API available. Specifically the NR, NX, NZ, and TG series are not supported because they use PalmOS 5.0 or 5.1 and lack the standard audio API.

However CliePet has made available a beta version of his software that will allow you to play music with Pocket Tunes (and lots of other software that uses the PalmOS 5 sound API). You can download CliePet from:

Please use caution and backup your device when using this beta version; he says that some people have reported needing to do a hard reset on their CLIE after using it.
