Pocket Tunes supports album art stored in either the folder the album is in, or in the tag of the song (for information on Tags, see this Knowledge Base article). Unfortunately, when using a media player to transfer your songs to your device, there is no way to transfer album art that is in a folder. The album art needs to be in the Tag to be transferred.
You have a couple of options. You can transfer the tracks then add album art after, as per this Knowledge Base article. Or you can have Windows Media Player add the album art to the tags, it's very quick and easy to do.
Steps for Windows Media Player 11:
Click the Library tab, and then browse to the album that is missing art.
Find a picture that you want to use for album art (the picture can be on your computer or on a Web page), right-click the picture, and then click Copy.
The original picture can be in any of the following formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, or TIFF.
In your library, right-click the album art box, and then click Paste Album Art.
A copy of the picture is embedded into each of the songs from that album. The copy of the picture is automatically scaled to the appropriate size and converted to the JPEG format before it is embedded in the file. The original picture file is not modified.
Steps for Windows Media Player 10:
- Locate the album in the Windows Media Player Library
- Select ALL the tracks for the album and right click
- Select 'Advanced tag editor'
- Click on the 'Pictures' tab at the top
- Click on 'Add'
- Windows Media Player will take you to the folder that it placed the album tracks in and if there are any album art .jpg files it will show those, you can also navigate to other locations if the Album Art is somewhere else on your PC.
- Select a jpg file to use.
- After you select the file, you can change the 'Picture Type' to "Cover (front)" in the drop down, though that is not essential
- Click 'Apply', you may get a message saying that Windows Media Player is updating the metadata. Once done, press 'OK'
After completing these steps, the album art is stored in the tag and will be transferred any time you transfer the tracks from the album on your desktop computer to your device.
