Pocket Tunes does not recognize the tags in my file, why?

Article applies to both the Palm and Windows Mobile operating systems

For information on what Tags are, please see this Knowledge Base article.

Pocket Tunes reads version 2 ID tags by default. Some editors only edit version 1 ID tags, so if you edit the version 1 tag it will not affect how Pocket Tunes sees the file. This problem is easily solved by either editing the version 2 tag or deleting it altogether. If the version 2 tag is not present, Pocket Tunes will read the version 1 tag.

ID3TagIt (available here http://www.id3-tagit.de/english/index.htm) is a good editor that you can use to edit tags.

Sometimes a tag can be improperly formatted. This can often be fixed by converting the tag. In iTunes, right click on the track. Select "Convert ID3 Tags". Check the box beside ID3 Tag conversion and in the drop down to the right, select 'v2.3'. Then press 'Ok'. Make sure you remove the file that was on your device and replace it with the newly edited version. You should then see the Tag information correctly in Pocket Tunes.
