My files keep skipping. What's wrong?

File skipping can be caused by several things. It could be the expansion card is slow. That's common with SanDisk cards and the reason we recommend Lexar branded cards. It can also be caused by having other processor-intensive applications running.

Occasionally it can be caused by crossfading taking too much time; try turning it off. It can also be caused by opening/closing the slider or turning off the screen.

The expansion card might be too fragmented. You may need to format the card and reinstall your files to it. There also might be an error on the card, causing it to malfunction. Again, reformatting would solve this problem.

Also make sure you have installed any applicable patches for the Palm OS, especially the ones related to expansion cards. Those should be available in the Support section on the website of the manufacturer of your device.

If you are using a 700p and have either Wireless Sync or Intellisync installed, the skipping can be caused by those programs. We have contacted the developers of both programs and they are working on a fix. For now if you disable the "Turn off screen after XX seconds" option, found in General Preferences of the Pocket Tunes Preferences menu, the skipping should stop. You can use the red power button to turn the screen off. Also, look for an update from NormSoft soon which will have some further tweaks to improve performance on the 700p.

Finally, if you determine none of the above to be the cause of the problem, try sending us the skipping file. Please fill out the support form located at http://www.pocket-tunes.com/scripts/support.php and we will give you instructions for sending us the file or files for testing.
