Can I use WMA files purchased online with Pocket Tunes?

As of the release of Pocket Tunes version 3.1, YES!

Pocket Tunes now supports playback of files purchased online from Napster, Rhapsody, Yahoo, Walmart.com, MusicMatch.com, etc. This includes both purchased tracks and subscription tracks.

The system requirements for support of online stores is as follows:

  • Required:
  • PalmOS 5.2 or later (or Tungsten T).
  • Pocket Tunes Deluxe version 3.1 (or greater)
  • For online music store support, the following devices are supported: Palm Treo 600, 650, 680, 700p, Zire 31, 71, 72, Tungsten T, T2, T3, T5, TX, C, E2, or LifeDrive .820KB memory available on Palm for Pocket Tunes.
  • Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10 are required for online music store support.

If your device is not listed as a compatible device, support for it may be added in the near future. Make sure you are on our mailing list to be notified when we release updates, since we will be adding more devices soon. Sign up here.

For those who do not have a device that is currently supported for online stores, there is a temporary work-around for files that you have purchased. (Note: This only applies to purchased tracks, not subscription tracks). You can burn the files to a CD, then "rip" them back to WMA format to strip the DRM code. We have instructions available online at www.pocket-tunes.com/pockettunes/copy_cd.html
