How do I install Pocket Tunes?

Installing Pocket Tunes is very easy.  Simply follow these steps:

On Windows:

  1. Double-click the pTunes.exe file that you downloaded.
  2. Follow the instructions that appear to install Pocket Tunes on your PC and/or Palm.
  3. If you have an old version of Pocket Tunes installed, you must not be playing music.  Open the Pocket Tunes application (not the console) and tap the "Pause" or "Stop" button.
  4. Perform a HotSync operation.
  5. Pocket Tunes will be installed to the Unfiled category on your Palm.

NOTE: Our online User Guide contains more detailed steps and screenshots, you can access it here http://www.pocket-tunes.com/pockettunes/docs/readme.html  .

On Macintosh, Linux, etc.:

  1. You will need a program to extract ZIP files.  On Windows, I suggest WinZip (www.winzip.com).  For Macintosh, Stuffit Expander is a popular program.
  2. If you have an old version of Pocket Tunes installed, you must not be playing music.  Open the Pocket Tunes application (not the console) and tap the "Pause" or "Stop" button before installing the new version.
  3. Open the Pocket Tunes ZIP file and double-click on PocketTunes.prc
  4. If you wish to install the included skin, double-click on HiFiSkin.pdb (or HiFiLowRes.pdb for low-resolution devices like the Treo 600).
  5. If you wish to install the optional plugins for playing Ogg Vorbis or WAV files, double-click the pTunesOgg.prc and/or pTunesWav.prc files.  (in the plugins folder)
  6. Perform a HotSync operation.
  7. Pocket Tunes will be installed to the Unfiled category on your Palm.
