How do I play audio files sent via email?

First, make sure the files being sent are of a format that Pocket Tunes supports. It will depend on which version you have on whether Pocket Tunes will play certain files. If you are unsure as to how to determine what version of Pocket Tunes you are using, see this Knowledge Base article: http://www.normsoft.com/kb/idx/0/135/article/ .

Here are the audio formats you can play in Pocket Tunes via email and the version(s) of Pocket Tunes that will play them:

MP3 - Pocket Tunes Bundled, Basic, Deluxe and valid Trial

Ogg - Pocket Tunes Basic, Deluxe and valid Trial. NOTE: Plugin MUST be installed, see this Knowledge Base article for more information.

*WAV - Pocket Tunes Basic, Deluxe and valid Trial. NOTE: Plugin MUST be installed, see this Knowledge Base article for more information. Not all Palms will use Pocket Tunes to play WAV files. If you have a reset when trying to play a WAV file, it is a Palm bug and not related to Pocket Tunes.

M4A
- Pocket Tunes Deluxe and valid Trial.

WMA - Pocket Tunes Deluxe only.

To play a valid audio file form an email:

  1. IMPORTANT: Make sure you have fully downloaded the email message. Many email programs will only download a portion of the file. You may need to tell it to download the rest of the email.
  2. Click on the attachment
  3. On most devices you should be given the option to 'Save', 'Save and Play' or 'Cancel'
  4. Choose 'Save' if you plan to listen to the track later, 'Save and Play' if you wish to listen to it now.
  5. If you have an SD card in the card slot, you will be given the option of where to store the file, we recommend the SD card where possible.
  6. After the track is saved it will be played in Pocket Tunes.

*Note: Some voice-mail systems send compressed WAV formatted files. Currently Pocket Tunes does not support compressed WAV file playback though we are considering adding it in a future release.
