How do I transfer audio files using a Card Reader?

Note: If you are transferring audio files from an online store or library, you must use Windows Media Player or the online store's media player. You cannot use a card reader for those files, only for unprotected files.

You can purchase a card reader for around $10 at most electronics or computer stores. Make sure the reader supports the SD card format, most will.

Make sure you are transferring audio file formats that your version of Pocket Tunes supports:

Pocket Tunes Deluxe - MP3, WMA, M4A, Ogg and WAV (you must install the plugins for the last two formats)

Pocket Tunes Basic or Trial - MP3, Ogg and WAV(you must install the plugins for the last two formats)

Pocket Tunes Bundled (version of Pocket Tunes that is preinstalled in some Palm devices) - MP3

To transfer audio files via a card reader:

  1. Ensure the card reader is connected to a USB port
  2. Insert the card into the reader
  3. On your PC, go to My Computer
  4. You should see an icon representing the card in the card reader, double click on it
  5. Now you will see the folders on the card, if there is no folder named Audio, create one (go to File, then new, then select Folder and name it Audio)
  6. In another window on your PC, find the file(s) you wish to transfer
  7. Select them (hold down the Ctrl key while you select each track to select multiple numbers of tracks)
  8. Drag and drop the track(s) on the Audio folder you created in the SD card window
  9. Your PC will transfer the tracks over

Once the transfer is complete, insert the card into your Palm and open Pocket Tunes.

The easiest way to see all your files is to go to the Pocket Tunes menu, got to Actions, then Open. Set the drop down in the upper right to 'All' and then click on the 'All Content' folder. This will show you all the audio files on your device and card, that are playable by Pocket Tunes. Select one or more tracks and then click on 'Ok' and Pocket Tunes will start playing the tracks.
