While Pocket Tunes is playing music in the background, you can bring up the Pocket Tunes console to control the playback of your music. It allows you to remain in the program you are in yet still access some basic commands in Pocket Tunes.
To enable the console,
- Go to Pocket Tunes and open the menu
- Select 'Background Preferences'
- Make sure 'Enable background play' is checked
- On some devices you will have both of the following options, while others only have the second option (the Treos only have the second because there is no graffiti area on those devices):
- Bring up console with pen swipe
- set where you wish to swipe the stylus 'from' and 'to'. - Bring up console with button
- set the hard button that will pop up the console when you press it
- If you want to have the console come up when you use Pocket Tunes from another application (E.g. Internet Audio streaming from Blazer, playing an audio attachment from email), make sure the "Show console when launched from other applications" is checked
NOTE: if you uncheck this option you will still be able to play audio tracks from other applications, the only difference is that the console will not launch.
Once you have everything set up, as long as Pocket Tunes is playing, you can launch the console from another application. The console does not launch if there is no Audio track playing.
There are some commands available while the console is open:
- Volume Up/Down - Press the top/bottom of the five way
- Pause/Play toggle - Press the space bar (only on some devices) or center button of the Five Way
- Skip to Next song - Press the right five way button
- Skip Back - Press the left five way button
- Close Console - Enter the number '0' (via graffiti or keypad), press 'OK' or press the 'Alt' key where available.
- Open Pocket Tunes - Press the "Open Pocket Tunes" button or enter the letter 'O' (via graffiti or keypad),
The console will also display the current track that is playing.
