Is Pocket Tunes compatible with Windows Media Player 11?

- This article applies to the Palm OS Only -

As of the release of Pocket Tunes 4.0.2, Windows Media Player 11 is now supported. Please download the new version from here.

*LifeDrive customers with Windows Media Player 11 may not be able to transfer music to their LifeDrive using Pocket Tunes. We recommend using a card reader or the LifeDrive's Drive Mode to transfer music to their device. If you want to use Windows Media Player then we recommend rolling back to Windows Media Player 10. You can roll back to Windows Media Player 10 following the steps below.

Step One: Rollback to Windows Media Player 10

To rollback to Windows Media Player 10 you must follow the instructions in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

We recommend you reboot your PC before proceeding to step two.

Please make sure you COMPLETE ALL steps in the Microsoft rollback instructions.

Step Two: Setup Windows Media Player 10

  1. Open Windows Media Player
  2. You should be presented with the screen to complete the final options and preference settings to complete the Windows Media Player 10 reinstall
  3. If Windows Media Player 10 is not available or does not launch, you may need to it. Download Windows Media Player 10 from this page. (Ensure you download Windows Media Player 10 not Windows Media Player 11, they are both on the page)
  4. Run the Windows Media Player 10 installation
  5. Once it is completed, close Windows Media Player 10

Step Three: Setup Pocket Tunes

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of Pocket Tunes. The most recent version of Pocket Tunes is always available here.
  2. Run the Pocket Tunes installer as per the online User Guide. Make sure that Windows Media Player integration IS checked.
  3. Hot Sync your device after completing the installation

Step Four: Connecting to Windows Media Player 10

  1. Make sure Pocket Tunes is in MTP mode: Open the Pocket Tunes menu, go to 'Preferences' and choose 'Copy from PC preferences', confirm that it says MTP in the drop down menu. If it says anything else, select the drop down and change it to MTP, then close Pocket Tunes.
  2. Connect your Palm to the USB and open Pocket Tunes.
  3. If the Media Player Window appears, choose which media player you want to connect to and it will launch and connect to Pocket Tunes. (if your device is not seen by the media player at this point, please refer to this Knowledge Base article)
  4. If the nothing happens when you connect the device and open Pocket Tunes OR the new hardware wizard fails, you may need to uninstall the Pocket Tunes driver and reinstall. The steps to do that are in this Knowledge Base article.
  5. Once you have reinstalled the Pocket Tunes driver, connect your device and open Pocket Tunes. You should now be able to connect to Windows Media Player or other media player.

If you are still having difficulty with the device being recognized, review this Knowledge Base article.

Also, review the steps you performed in the roll back and make sure all the steps were completed successfully. The majority of issues have arisen because not all steps were completed.
