Alternative methods to transfer audio files to a Palm device

NOTE: If you are transferring tracks from an online store, you must use either the store's desktop media player or Windows Media Player 10 or Windows Media 11 to transfer to a Palm device. Please see the online User Guide here http://www.pocket-tunes.com/pockettunes/docs/readme.html for more details.

You can transfer audio files via Windows Media Player, Hot Sync or a Card Reader. Additionally there are a few other options available.

T5 File Transfer program - If you are a T5 owner you can use the desktop File Transfer program to drag and drop Audio files from your computer, onto the T5.

Drive Mode - For LifeDrive and T5 owners, you can also connect your device in Drive mode and drag and drop files to the device as if it was just another folder on our desktop.

LifeDrive Manager - LifeDrive users can use the LifeDrive manager to transfer audio files from the desktop to the LifeDrive.

* for for more detail on any of the above, please refer to the owners manual for your device.

Card Export - Another alternative is provided by Softick, www.softick.com . This program can be used on most Palm devices (check Softick's site for compatibility). It will allow your desktop computer to see the SD card inserted in your device and allow you to drag and drop audio files onto that card while it is in the device.

Bluetooth - You can also transfer via Bluetooth but please note this can often be the slowest method of transferring files. You must have a Bluetooth connection on your PC and a Bluetooth compatible Palm to transfer the files. Please refer to the Palm user guide on setting up a bluetooth connection with your PC.

  1. Once you have paired your Palm with the PC via Bluetooth, locate the file(s) you wish to transfer
  2. Right click on the file(s) and select 'Send To:'
  3. Then select the Bluetooth device. As long as you have already paired your Palm with the PC, you should see your device listed there. If not, please review the Palm User Guide on how to pair your device with a PC.
  4. Select the device and press 'Next'
  5. The transfer should begin. If it does not, make sure you have set the Palm Bluetooth in discoverable mode, see the Palm manual on how to do that.
  6. Once the transfer is done, you will be given the option to 'Save' or 'Save and Play', either is fine.
  7. You will then be asked where to save the file, we recommend you save it to an SD card unless you have a LifeDrive in which case save it to the drive.
  8. If you are transferring more than one track, the next track will start to transfer after you press 'Finish' on the PC.
  9. Once all tracks are complete, you should find them in the /Audio folder

We recommend setting Pocket Tunes to display Tags which will have Pocket Tunes display all playable audio content on the Palm. For more information on how to do this, see this Knowledge Base article.
