Pocket Tunes is saying it cannot find the license, what do I do?

***NOTE: If you have been using Pocket Tunes with online stores with no issue and are now seeing a message in Pocket Tunes that it cannot find the license, please see this Knowledge Base article: http://www.normsoft.com/kb/idx/0/118/article/

There are a few things to check if you are getting a message in Pocket Tunes that it could not find a license:

- You must be using Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10

- If the files are ripped from CDs then see this Knowledge Base article http://www.normsoft.com/kb/idx/19/130/article/

- If the songs are subscription content from a music store you should use the music store software to transfer your music.

- Also, you have to transfer songs directly to your device using Pocket Tunes. You cannot use a card reader or Hot Sync

- Make sure you have run the English Windows Installer exe file on your desktop. If you need to download it, you can get it here http://www.pocket-tunes.com/download.html

- Make sure that the date and time on your device matches that of the system clock on your desktop

NOTE: On some Treos, when you set the Date, Time etc to be obtained from the network, some networks seem to occasionally give incorrect information to the Treos and can cause the license to be invalidated. If you find that your licensed get invalidated for no apparent reason and have your device set to have the time zone set automatically, uncheck that option and see if that stops the issue. If not, uncheck the automatic date and Time retrieval as well and see if the issue is then resolved.

- Make sure you are using a device that is supported for online stores:
For online music store support, the following devices are supported: Palm Treo 700p, 680, 650 and 600, Zire 31,71, 72, Tungsten T, T2, T3, T5, T|X, C, E, E2, or LifeDrive

- Sony and Garmin devices are not supported at this time.

- Make sure that you have an SD card inserted into the SD slot on your device (You do not need to do this on the T5, T|X and the LifeDrive)

- Make sure your device is in MTP mode. open the Pocket Tunes menu, go to 'Preferences' and choose 'Copy from PC preferences', confirm that it says MTP in the drop down menu. If it says anything else, select the drop down and change it to MTP, then close Pocket Tunes, hook up to the USB and reopen it.
