How do I transfer Napster tracks to my Palm device?

If your device is not showing up in Napster (or Windows Media Player) then please refer to this Knowledge Base article for a checklist on what to look for http://www.normsoft.com/kb/idx/19/116/article/ .

***Before you proceed with connecting to Napster, you might want to do the following step, but please note: This is only necessary if you have already transferred any songs from Napster and now you are unable to transfer files.

  1. go to Pocket Tunes "Tools" menu,
  2. tap "Clear Licenses"
  3. Pocket Tunes will ask if you are sure, answer "Yes"
  4. Tap OK on the next screen
  5. Then delete any of the files you transferred from Napster.

Here are the steps to connect your device to Napster:

    1. Make sure you are using the Napster desktop if possible. You can use Windows Media Player 11( or 10) but we recommend using the Napster desktop and find it works great.

    2. Make sure that the device is in MTP mode. Open the Pocket Tunes menu, go to 'Preferences' and choose 'Copy from PC preferences', confirm that it says MTP in the drop down menu. If it says anything else, select the drop down and change it to MTP.
    3. Connect your device to the USB THEN open Pocket Tunes on your device.

    4. You should get a window pop up asking you to choose your MTP Media Player, choose Napster if you are using the desktop or Windows Media Player if you want to use it. Meanwhile on the Palm you should see a screen that says "Communicating with PC, please wait...", it may also say "Communicating, do not disconnect!". If it says that then information is actually being transmitted back and forth.

    5. Once Napster starts it should eventually display your device in the right hand column of the library tab. Sometimes this can be a bit slow for Napster to show the device so be patient on this step.

    6. Once the device is listed, it will say "Pocket Tunes" or "Palm Handheld" or something similar, and if you click on it, it will expand and you can view the contents of your device, if there were any songs there already they would be shown.

    7. Now you have a few options, the most straight forward approach is to click and drag a song you want on the device to the transfer window in the lower right corner of the Napster desktop.

    8. Napster will show a % as it transfers the song to your device, Pocket Tunes will say "receiving file, do not disconnect".

    9. Once Napster has completed the transfer then you should be able to play that song. Make sure you do not disconnect before Napster says 'Complete' in the transfer status window.

Note that you can also drag and drop whole playlists and they will be transferred to your device along with the tracks.

If it does not work, contact support.
