The easiest way to hot sync audio files is to use Palm Quick Install.
- Locate the file(s) you wish to transfer
- Open Quick Install
- Click on the file(s) you wish to transfer
- Drag and drop the files(s) in the "Expansion Card" window of Quick install
- Hot sync your device
If you do not see your files after hot syncing, see this Knowledge Base article.
Be sure you are importing supported file formats, which are WMA (Pocket Tunes Deluxe only) MP3, OGG, WAV and M4A files. If you are attempting to hotsync a supported file type and are getting a message that the "file does not exist", the problem is that the path to the file is too long. The Hotsync process requires that the combined path/file name be no longer than 74 characters. Try copying or moving your files to a folder like c:audio and hotsync them from there. That should solve this error.
If you have an error message saying that your device does not support that file format, either
a) the format is not WMA, MP3, Ogg, WAV or M4A. You will need to convert the files to one of those formats using a program like dBpowerAMP available at http://www.dbpoweramp.com . (Note: ONLY use WMA format if you are using Pocket Tunes DELUXE)
b) You do not have the Ogg and/or WAV plugin installed see this Knowledge Base article on how to install the plugin.
c) You are trying to transfer a WMA file and are using a version other than Pocket Tunes Deluxe. To check what version you have, see this Knowledge Base article .
Installing files using hotsync takes a LONG time! Hotsync transfers at the rate of about 1 meg per minute. Figure 5 minutes per song on average.
If you use the Windows Media Player conduit, that will improve the transfer speed by 10-20%
If you use a card reader, that is about 60x faster than using Hotsync.
