Pocket Tunes crashes/resets upon startup

Most of the time, if Pocket Tunes reports that a crash occurred when it starts up, the crash is due to another program on your device that is not working properly. Unless you suspect that Pocket Tunes caused the crash, you should contact customer support for the other product you were using when the crash or reset occurred.

Update to the Latest Version

Before attempting to troubleshoot the problem, be sure that you are using the latest version of Pocket Tunes, which you can download from http://www.pocket-tunes.com/download.html

Crashing on Startup

If your device crashes or resets after selecting the Pocket Tunes icon, then this is probably due to a corrupted audio file or corrupted file system on your expansion card or device. (If the crash/reset occurs at some other time, please see the section below entitled "Other Causes of Crashes / Resets".)

Corrupted Audio Files

If the crash occurs because of a corrupted audio file, Pocket Tunes will display the name of the audio file the next time you start Pocket Tunes. It will ask you if you would like to Ignore or Delete the file. If you see this error message, please contact customer support to share the offending file. This will help us eliminate these types of errors in the future.

If Pocket Tunes does not complain about a particular file when it starts up, then there is likely another problem.

Corrupted File System

Often there can be a corrupted folder on your device or expansion card, which can be solved by reformatting it. You can use the Card Info tool on your device to reformat an expansion card. Be sure to backup the contents of your device and expansion card before formatting, or else you will lose any data stored on it.

Other Causes of Crashes / Resets

Most of the time, if Pocket Tunes reports that a crash occurred when it starts up, the crash is due to another program on your device that is not working properly. We know of several programs that are particular likely to cause resets, and we've listed them in this knowledge base article.
